On December 7th, Natural Science has gained a new young fan! Patrick's family expanded with the birth of daugther Liz Johanna Groot Nuelend!
29-11-2009 AND FROM THE NEW DRUMMER'S POINT OF VIEW ??
Lining up in de Gracht pumped up with a fair amount of healthy tension and persuasiveness was the motto, especially because of the very limited number of rehearsals with the complete band (just once to be precise !!). A truly exciting experience indeed.
But despite that the atmosphere, sound and quality of playing was at an ultimately high level J. Especially the variation and dynamics of the songs really came out great, also judging the response of the exited crowd both during as well as after the performance. And that halfway through the first set a bass snare snaps and the rest of the band then simply improvising put up a complete new song, once more shows the quality and experience of the band members.
So all in all to my opinion a very successful and heavy gig, surely eligible to be repeated. Hope to see you all soon at one of the upcoming sessions, please check out the agenda.
11-11-2009 PICTURES OF GIG AT CAFE DE GRACHT NOW ONLINE!
Pictures of the gig at Cafe de Gracht in Borculo (the very first gig for Adwin with Natural Science!!) are now available on this site. Soon, a review of this memorable gig will follow!
01-10-2009 NEW DRUMMER AND GIG
After exactly 11 months, there is finally an update on this site (sorry folks for the radio silence, this is purely due to lack of time of the webmaster!).
We do have two important news facts; firstly Natural Science has find a great replacement drummer for Pascal Schouten in Adwin Schellings. Adwin is a true prog-fan, so that will absolutely promise a lot of good for the new material that the band has been starting to work on.
Secondly, Natural Science will be back on stage soon, now with Adwin! This will happen at De Gracht in Borculo, November 7th. Of course we hope to meet you there!
01-11-2008 REVIEW OF THE GIG AT DE ENGELENBAK
Saturday October 11th, it was the first time for Pascal Schouten to be on stage together with the rest of Natural Science, after a short rehearsel period. The night started off well with a nice gig of the band FireFly who are clearly influenced by Metallica. Around 10:30 N.S. came on stage. Although Pascal's new addition to the band and the fact that the setlist contained a lot of new songs may have created some uncertainties, it became clear that the band really wanted to make it a great night. And partially by the attendence of many known and unkown people in the audiance it became a very pleasant night indeed. You can find the evidence on the Gallery page. Also Cafe De Engelenbak was very satisfied with this evening of (progressive) rockmusic and chances are big that it will be repeated next year!
06-09-2008 FIRST GIG WITH NEW DRUMMER!
Saturday October 11th, it's time to introduce our new drummer, Pascal Schouten, to the audience. That will take place at cafe De Engelenbak at the Veemarkt in Doetinchem (NL).
The evening will be opened by FireFly, followed by more than 1,5 hours of Natural Science!
Make sure you're there!!
06-06-2008 NEW DRUMMER!
We are glad to announce that we have succeeded to find a new drummer. His name is Pascal Schouten from Warnsveld (NL).
We will use the coming months to rehearse our material and to work on some new songs together with Pascal, so that we are ready to rock-n-roll in the new season that is starting this fall!
06-05-2008 REVIEW BERKELLAND FESTIVAL
Last Saturday, it was very pleasant at the Berkelland Festival in Borculo. Thanks to the good weather and the excellent organization, the atmosphere was very good. Natural Science's gig was received very well. In fact, the organization immediately promised a place on the bill for next year! So, just that you are aware, on May 2nd 2009, Natural Science will play again at the festival in Borculo. Hopefully the weather will be as good as this year!!
You can find the very nice pictures of the gig on the Photo page.
02-02-2008 WANTED: NEW DRUMMER!

21-01-2008 NATURAL SCIENCE @ SNEEUWPOP FESTIVAL
Last Saturday we had our first gig in 2008 at the Sneeuwpop festival in Dinxperlo. The line-up consisted besides Natural Science of other bands like The Bloody Honkies and Blaudzun.
From the reactions of the audience, it was clear that the crowd in Dinxperlo liked to hear a solid portion of progressive rock! With a set of only 40 minutes, this was a small but very nice gig!
Thanks to Erik Obbink of dplnieuws.nl, we can already put some nice pictures on this site. More pics will follow.
15-01-2008 NOW ALSO ON MYSPACE
Since today Natural Science has also their own place at Myspace. Go to http://myspace.com/naturalsciencemusic and sign up as friend of the band!
08-01-2008 NEW GIGS ANNOUNCED
The year 2008 starts well for Natural Science! Today we received the confirmation of two gigs! The first gig will happen at the Sneeuwpop festival in Dinxperlo, on Saturday January 19th. The second gig is at the Berkelland Festival in Borculo, May 3rd.

We expect that we can add some more gigs to the agenda later on, so...... Stay Tuned!!!!
28-11-2007 NATURAL SCIENCE @ MERLEYN
Despite the absence of Roy (due to sickness), we finally got back on stage at Cafe Merleyn in Doetinchem (Holland), at the opening of the Merleyn 5 Days of Music festival 2007. From the feedback during and after the gig, everyone was very enthousiatic. Especially the new songs were received very well. Joost succeeded to take on the role as singer besides his own guitar parts, which received a lot of credits from the audience.
A delegation from Aalten travelled specially to see the gig, mainly because we will play at their Rock of Ages festival on March 1st 2008. They even placed a very nice review with some pics (only in Dutch though!) from our gig on the website of Rock of Ages geplaatst, go to http://www.radiorockofages.nl/wei.htm. Special thx to Metal Peter!
More pictures of the gig will be placed on this site shortly.
25-10-2007 JOOST LOTTERS NEW GUITARIST IN NATURAL SCIENCE
Yes!!! After almost three years of silence, finally an update on the Natural Science website! Well, there is also a lot of news to be mentioned, such as new gigs (see Agenda), work being done for a new CD and of course our new guitarist Joost Lötters shouldn't be forgotten.
This is just a preview, because we are working hard to publice our new website soon.
STAY TUNED FOLKS !!!

Finally a new update!
On November 21st, the new CD "This Side of Paradise" has finally been presented to the public during a very nice gig at a very crowded Cafe Merleyn in Doetinchem. The reactions, both between songs and after the show, were very positive. Also the merchandise sale was good, so we can truly say it has been a very good begin of the (hopefully) many shows to follow.
For everyone who visited the CD presentation: thank you all for making this a very special evening!
The work on the new CD is almost done; after the recordings and mixing, now it's time for mastering.
The CD will be officially presented at the 5-day music festival at the Cafe Merleyn in Doetinchem on November 21st. Besides our CD, another collection CD will be presented with material from all the bands that are playing live during the week. Natural Science will contribute with the song called "Just Before Dawn".
De CD-recordings have begun!!!
After 4 days of hard work, we have set our first milestones with the completion of the drums and (almost all) keyboard-stuff. Under the skillful leadership of producer Marc "Dr. Evil" ter Braak, we are making good progress, although we probably will need a bit more time than we planned.
Soon, we will place a studio diary at the site with some nice pics.
So, stay tuned folks!
The start of the recordings for the new album is getting closer, only just a few weeks away! Slowly but steady the songs are getting their final shape. We can now give you the (preliminary) titles of the tracks which will make it on to the CD:
Of course, these titles and order can still change (knowing Roy, that is likely to happen!)
The length of the CD will probably be around 50 min. and the title of the album is 'This Side of Paradise'. If things are going well, we expect to release the album this fall !!!
To be continued ...
At last, after a long period of radio silence a news update.
As you could read earlier, the intention was start with the recording of the new album in March. The band however decided, after long thoughts, to delay this for a few months. The most important reason was that Roy was unable to sing for a long while at the end of last year, which caused a major delay in the writing process. De recordings have been re-scheduled for July / August. It's expected that the CD will be released before the end of this year.
Although the rumours were spread earlier, we can announce today that Natural Science will play at Cafe Merleyn in Doetinchem (Holland) on Wednesday 20/11. This gig is part of a music event that is organized by the Poparchief Achterhoek and Liemers (PAL) organisation. Starting from Wednesday 20/11 until Sunday 24/11, many local bands will play every day at the Merleyn.
Finally, there is some important Natural Science news to tell !!!
Last Sunday, the band has decided that the follow up of the CDemo 'The Lies Along The Way' will be recorded in March/April next year. Therefore, agreements have been made with the Harrow Recording Studio in Losser (Netherlands) for the production of a full-length studio album.
Already 5 new songs have been written, but the band will be working on some more material till the end of this year, so that from beginning of 2003 they can work on the arrangements, lyrics, background vocals, cd design, etc. etc. So, there will be plenty of work to do!!!
We'll keep you posted!
All the latest reviews are now compiled on 1 page. You will also find the latest reviews of IO pages and Strutter Magazine there.
Ok, ok, some other bandmembers have been pushing me a lot lately, so finally the site update is here! Indeed it has been quiet on this page, but of course we haven't been sitting still!! Therefore, we give you a summary of some newsfacts:
Unfortunately, Natural Science did not succeed to win the final of the Music Awards Gelderland (area Achterhoek). This honour was given to the other band from Doetinchem, Busted, who received the most votes of the jury after a tough battle, last night. Of course, we wish Busted all the best for the final of Gelderland, which takes place on June 1st in the Musis Sacrem in Arnhem.
The internet progrock magazine Progwereld has placed a review of the CDemo on her site.
On Saturday (April 13th) Natural Science has won the first price in the first round of the Music Awards Gelderland!! After this first round, where bands like P.U.R. and Held were defeated, the final is next in 't Pakhuus in Silvolde on April 27th.
Therefore we invite everybody who likes Natural Science to come and encourage us in the Final on the 27th, so that hopefully there will be a true progrock band in the country final again.
Today an AGENDA page has been added to the site. Here you can find where Natural Science will appear live on stage in the coming months.
The CD (The Lies Along The Way) has been named CD demo of the Month on the site of Progrocks.startkabel.nl !!!
After some succesful gigs, Natural Science is busy working on some new songs. One of those (On my Own) has been played already a few times live on stage. The songs are a bit heavier than the songs from the demo CD.
The band is making plans to record a full album, in summer/fall of 2002.
Today, there is a gig in Cafe Merleyn, Doetinchem (Holland) to celebrate 50 year of pop-/rockmusic in Doetinchem. You will the find some pictures of the gig in the Gallery section, shortly.
Today, the first (demo) CD, entitled 'The Lies Along The Way' has been released, in own production. There are 4 songs on the album:
1. SOME SAY THE RIVER (P1. SILENT STREAM, P2. TELL ME WHAT TO DO)
2. GOD’S ASLEEP
3. DANCE THE REEL
4. THE LIES ALONG THE WAY
